2. Rubber Balloon Barrage Project

Concept

Weir - cum - causeway project was built in 1995 on river Tapi at the approx. cost of Rs 35.00 Cr. Due to decrease and irregularly scattered rainfall pattern and new construction of dams/weir/barrages over river Tapi after 1998, water storage in Ukai Dam has been also effected. This decrease in river flow resulted in to heavy silting in down steam of Weir-cum-causeway. Considering future water supply requirement, conservation of water and other aspects, it has been decided to think over the project of Balloon Barrage on river Tapi near Rundh at 2.0 km u/s of Magdalla Bridge. The option of conventional barrage is also under consideration.Weir - cum - causeway project was built in 1995 on river Tapi at the approx. cost of Rs 35.00 Cr.
